I read too much... as a kid though?? Series of Unfortunate Events hands down. I also loved The Boxcar children for some reason... and of course Harry Potter, Hunger Games, etc. etc. Oh? Yeah? Senior year I read The Kiterunner? Still crying honestly. Oh and Where The Red Fern Grows in 5th grade? I bawled good lord I'll shut up now.
