The vanishing of Ki'Ra Bus'Dar Gren'Diros and Blan'Stera

When Oros'Era led his followers into the sea of green, not all went as planned. Many dragonborn did not feel comfortable with the lands where they traveled. They felt unsafe under the waves of the sea of green. It would be no more than a weeks travel until some dragonborn showed their feelings. Oros said that here too, there were folk that needed their aid with the impending invasion. The defiant dragonborn reacted selfishly. ''Why should we care about a race we don't know?'' Oros'Era's reply was simple: ''If you wish to defy Fer, leave now!'' And leave they did. A group hardly a dozen big turned back to the mountains. But they would not live the life they wished in the mountains either.

Summary

When the defiant dragonborn returned to the mountains, they were met with harsh living conditions. Anything better than drowning in that sea of green, they told themselves. The defiant dragonborn wished to return to the depths from where they came. Sure this place would be in the mountains, they roamed the ranges for years. One day, a group of 4 dragonborn found a cave which they thought to be a gate to their home. They entered, but were never to come out again. Thinking this was the gate to their home, the other defiant dragonborn came to the place where the four entered, but found the cave gone. The defiant dragonborn tell the story of how these four went through all sorts of trials to find the cave, and to get through it to find their home. Several years later, the cave opened again and brought forth the mine devils. The stories tell that these are the children of the four missing dragonborn, and that they came to this world to get the other dragonborn back. These children of the defiant as they are sometimes called, travel across the continent in order to find all the dragonborn.

Historical Basis

Some dragonborn did actually go back to the mountains, where they still seek the gate to their home. The four dragonborn who went missing didn't go through some trials to get back home though. They were lured in by the evil Morna who then corrupted them until they eventually grew to be mine devils and other types of kobold. The mine devils did spread across the land, but more so to weaken the empires from the inside. To this day, they remain a bother to miners and other surface creatures who live near mines. They are the last enemies of the Fulgur.

Spread

The original story as it was created by the defiant dragonborn remains in their oral traditions. The other dragonborn addaptations have spread through all of the continent. Bardic retellings are well known all across the continent.

Variations & Mutation

The original tale tells that the four dragonborn found their gate home. Other dragonborn tales often say that the 4 perished in the caves as a warning to other dragonborn to not attempt to find a way home. The most common bardic retelling of the story is called ''the quest of the brave brothers''

Cultural Reception

All dragonborn hold their own retelling close to heart. It is a source of inspiration for all, in their own way. Bardic retellings are well liked across the continent.

In Literature

The quest of the brave brothers is a collection of stories that tell of trials which the four dragonborn brothers had to go through to find their way home. The first oddity in this is that it was never 4 brothers. The 4 dragonborn were evenly split between male and female and they were all unrelated. The second oddity in this telling is that the trials the ''brothers'' had to go through were never recorded, not even in the defiant original versions. It is mostly addapted from the quests of other advanturers that the Halfling author Hamana Oderian has collected. Some later versions ditch the fact that the characters were dragonborn completely.

In Art

Especially the quest of the brave brothers has been the inspiration of many songs and some forms of visual art.
