Catharxis, the End of the World

All 7 of the world's main ancient religions shared one story in common: that of the end and rebirth of the world as they knew it. Considering how religions tend to differ widely in their myths and worldview, the fact that the story of Catharxis appeared the same word-for-word across all of those religions spoke to the truth of it.

Summary

Catharxis, the End of the World, didn't come from war between different religions or cultures. It came because religions and cultures crumbled from the inside, from their own internal fights. At the same time. All over the world.   It could have been the end of civilisation as people knew it. Deities fought each other via their Godlings, wreaking havoc and caring little for material destruction.   Humanity had been forewarned that such internal wars were coming. The founders of each ancient religion already preached about its end, even citing the specific events that would trigger their own Catharxis. And to make sure humanity would not forget those events, the prophets (the first Godlings) kept reincarnating to remind their people of what was to come.   When Catharxis finally came, and every religion turned on itself, the fighting lasted for a whole year and reshaped the world in more than figurative terms. For example, The Tolona Wall was created from the fallen bodies of Felialma and Canispirito, two of the five animal deities in the old Humanist religion.   But humanity (and Godlings) survived Catharxis. The old religions sort of did too, but with their old gods destroyed, or at least put on deep and potentially-eternal slumber, they needed some massive reconfiguration.   The last godlings to die during Catharxis foresaw that, without the deities around, the godlings' blessings would also go "into sleep". They would continue to reincarnate as usual, but until the deities responsible for their creation were active again, they would resemble normal humans.   Fast forward 2018 years, and the first two deities are beginning to awaken. Felialma and Canispirito are already awakening the power of their Godlings. In just a week, East and West Tolona will get a taste of their own Catharxis...
Date of First Recording
