GM Application in The Actuality | World Anvil

GM Application

What I'm looking for in a GM:

  • Communication: The Discord server and World Anvil account exist to facilitate the game. Both players and GMs are expected to check in regularly to ensure the game runs smoothly and that everyone is on the same page.
  • Reliable Schedule: To be a GM at this open table, you need to have a fairly predictable schedule so that you can commit to agreed upon session times. Life happens, however, so I don't expect perfection. If you have trouble keeping commitments or lack sufficient free time to prepare, you should probably move on, though there may be room for you as a contributor for the Creative Input category of the Discord channel.
  • Collaboration: As an Open Table, you will need to work with any other GMs, likely to find ways to tie player arcs together. Players are encouraged to be active participants, so you'll need to work with them as well.
  • Episodic Focus: Individual sessions are expected to be 2-4 hours and encounters should be resolved within that time to ensure players remain available for other teams. Extended encounters are possible, but you are encouraged to schedule extra sessions to make sure the players reach a stopping point.
  • Inclusion: Last, but certainly not least, I expect GMs to accept players from diverse backgrounds, including racial, religious, sexualities, and gender identities. Bigotry has no place at this table. We have more than enough of that in the Shadow.

Questions:

How experienced would you say you are as a GM, both in Invisible Sun and in general?

How would you describe your GMing style?

How strictly do you expect the game rules to be followed?

What's your approach to the topic of player agency?

Are you comfortable running solo sessions or larger groups?

What sorts of adventures, encounters, or scenarios would you say you're strongest in? (Combat, heists, political machinations, puzzles, etc.)

What sorts do you struggle with?
