Echo

A strange creature of unknown origin. Hopefully it is simply a natural inhabitant of Gurma the planet on which the colonists have found themselves trapped with these beings on. While they are incapable of communicating verbally, they are able to imitate the human figure. While there is still no evidence that they have killed any colonists, they will often wander around taking the form of other people. The only way to differentiate between an Echo and the person they are intimidating is by forcing them to speak. While they may have only seemed to appear in human form recently, it is difficult to say when they began to appear. Since they have arrived as humans, the Desos seem to have stopped fighting among each other. Echo's also seem to be highly attracted to brightroot. A number of citizens have taken to attacking them, at which point they run from the village and never seem to come back as the same person. One such interaction ended with one running into the delta and being swept out to sea. The creature seemed to react to being in water the same way any human would, but lacked the intelligence to swim. The villagers aren't sure where these creatures are coming from or why they are so terrified of them, but never the less they feel a strong compulsion to exterminate any of the creatures that appear. None have been killed or captured as of yet, but one citizen has told a tale that when he had one in his grasp it dissipated in a cloud of smoke, but this story has yet to be corroborated. Either way, the local government has deemed these creatures a threat and the Empire has given the authority to evacuate if it is safe or if the threat cannot be escaped then the area must be neutralized.
