Bæl'kor (Bel-A-Kor)

"There are very few things in this world that all should fear. Bæl'kor returning is one of those things."
— First passage in the Tales of Dark Legends by Josin Tigerus
There was once a time when the gods walked upon this world. In these realms, they were the manifestations of the will of all living things in the Aether. They were life, dreams, hopes, and fears all brought to form.   There is an old legend, a folk tale told amongst those of the Northern Shiverpeaks where the world reaches high to the heavens and cuts into the sky. The old storytellers there speak of how the world was after the gods began to come into existence...   And how there was already something there, something dark that ruled over the worlds.
The origins of Be'lakor are spoken of only as ancient myth and rumor; tales torn from the tongues of captive cultists or forbidden lore recorded on ancient crypt walls. Crude pictographs found in the caves of dry, dead worlds or primitive statues hidden in the sunken depths of Death World oceans speak to Be'lakor's immortal reign within the rifts.   Scholars have been driven mad looking for hints of the Daemon presence woven into the history of the world, always lurking in the shadows and behind the rise and expansion of the mortal races. Even the secretive orders of the world know little of Bæl'kor's true history, only conflicting lies and impossible fabrications.   There are some legends tell of Be'lakor ruling over mortal empires since the dawn of time. The Daemon was known to conquer a world, subjugating its people and forcing them to worship him as a god. When the race would fall, ruined by Bæl'kor's greed and malevolence, the Daemon would move on, finding a new burgeoning sentient species to be his playthings. Several times, the Daemon is said to have been the lord of rift-spanning empires, a dark, Daemon-god ruling over a thousand worlds and with billions of loyal followers.   Relics and the ruins of Dead Worlds that still exist that suggests there may be some truth to these legends though whether their source was Bæl'kor or not is more difficult to say. Following the faint trail left by Bæl'kor's passage through history, archaeologists have found winged statues carved from the fossilised bones of magi, stygian horn-fragments sealed in sacred caskets, and crumbling scrolls of human skin that show thousands of tiny figures bowing down before a dark-winged shape.    Unknown to some is if they are being manipulated by Bæl'kor. The Daemon could be placing the first clues to his existence in their path, leading them to the ruins of a world he once ruled. From this seed of curiosity, they can discover new worlds and ruined empires long forgotten by Bæl'kor. And while the Daemon helps them from the shadows, they gather up the hidden and forgotten legacy Bæl'kor has left behind, ultimately returning to the Daemon his lost objects of power while also erasing his existence from history.
