Episode 91: The Course of the Corsairs
General Summary
While Vasya tried to play off the person's recognition, the similarly dressed spy albeit without the disguising magic stepped forward revealing himself to be a friend mentioned by Vasya before-- Dimitri, the son of the Kasari Bursana Emissary Aragon. Revealing their identities as well as their intent to take down the Corsairs to prevent them from wreaking havoc in the city, Dimitri gave them the directions that he had been set to follow hoping to infiltrate the headquarters on his own although he had left out his purpose.
Armed with the knowledge of their path, the group set out ahead with Terra leading them to look out for traps. Navigating through sticky situations as well as through poisonous traps, the group passed by a whole underground life, from a secret bar to a collapsed tunnel and a city guard skeleton pinned to the wall by a sword that had been buried deep. Strangely enough they had even found chalkdrawings as if done by children featuring scenes of a life in the tunnels as well as what looked to be a robot amongst them.
After navigating through the maze successfully, they had come upon a dead end room with nothing more than flowers and vases. A quick investigation revealed levers around the room hidden behind flowers with poisonous thorns and once all were pulled not only did a staircase in the middle appear but so did a hallway hidden beyond the leftmost wall. Following through, this time on their own to navigate, the group passed even more hallways with levers and pulled the first one they saw.
The wall led into another room where it happened to be that a group had been playing poker and were surprised by the sudden entrance. Though it had been Vasya that had walked in first, disguised by the spell, she quickly disappeared along with Valentine who urged Swan to open the next lever to assist with their escape. However, when she had opened the next room, they were greeted by armed thugs who didn't seem to buy her tale that she was there to enjoy a meal as well.
A smirmish ensued and while Lix attempted to deal with the gang led by a (Vulpine) the others managed to knock the other thugs out. However, with Plum shot dead by the gang leader only to be resurrected by carrying the Revivify talisman that Lix had made for him, the fight ended with a truce with Swan agreeing along with the others to meet with the Vulpine.
While crafty, Swan navigated the negotiations with the party to ensure that they walked out of there-- stating that they would eliminate the Corsairs and their leaders. The foxfolk revealed to them while executing his failed members that five rival gangs had come together in an effort to defeat Keynos and his men and while they were able to take the hideaway they were unable to kill him as he simply wasn't there and might even be downtown enacting his plot.
The group was able to walk out of the incident without any other form of payment and Swan had even been able to warn Dimitri to escape the gangs en route to his location at the hideaway eventually being able to meet with him to heal him before he had set off.
Now aware of where Keynos intended to strike, the party headed to get some rest readying for the fight soon to come.
