Ievon Fae Runes (Ye-VON)

Though a frequent traveler to the plane of Auriga, Ievon Fae's very speech carry power that could invoke different classes of magic if they are not careful. The older a fae gets the more they are able to control their speech, but very young fae often travel to Auriga with a mask covering their lower face and communicate through arcane sigils that appear when they shift their fingers and hands in a certain gesture in a similar fashion to sign language.

The Language

Interestingly enough, any manner of communication attempted by the Ievon utilizes magic in its pure form. In order to insure their communication causes no harm, the Ievon utilize the sign language of their people. At the end of their message, an arcane circle will appear in the air before them with what looks to be their written language etched into the display of magical light. If the person they are communicating with has not learned their sign language, they are free to touch the center of the circle, absorbing the information which translates into their mind directly, almost similar to a telepathic message. However, many traders in Ievon have taken to learning their language as they are seen very frequently during the solstices and other events revolving around planetary bodies and alignments.   Interestingly enough, the Ievon can understand almost all languages spoken in Auriga save for Sylvan and Elvish, for an undisclosed reason. In turn, their language cannot be understood by any that speak just those two languages.

Dangers of Speech and Psionics

Almost all visiting Ievon have a mastery of the arcane, but what is not as well known is their mastery of psionics as well. They can telepath their thoughts to commune with others, but if the receiver of the message is not well versed in the arcane, they will suffer quite a headache as their mind cannot translate the magical intrusion. Typically, they will thus avoid using telepathy unless they wish to converse with a mage or other arcane caster.   As for speech, while their words carry power that could be harmful to others, they have been known to utilize it on occasion. During a recent raid in Kingsfall, several visiting Ievon warriors had rushed out to aid the people and ensure they could reach the city walls for refuge. From the watchtowers, many guards witnessed the full force of the Ievon as some casted casting spells of their own magic while others spoke their intent and creating a magical effect that tried to replicate their words. Where the Ievon fought, the air felt charged with wild magic for the rest of the week.
