If it has a name, no one lives that remembers it. Hells, we don't even know how to read it. We just wait for the next Call and hope that we can understand more, that's all there is to it. Chin up, your time will come, just you wait.— The Watchman
The runes written on the Time Spire are, in truth, the oldest text in all of Auriga. While to most of the known world it is a myth or a relic lost to the destructive sands of the Wastes, the well-studied of the realm know the truth. The runes were written by the gods themselves at very dawn of a new age with those contributing to the language being the ones that wished to continue to aid humanity in the ages to come. As of now, no one can completely understand the runes and the messages that are shown which is why when
a Call is heard, it is something treasured amongst the people of the city.
The Writings on the Stone
Runes span from just around ten feet off the ground all the way to where the rocks begin to thin out to form the spire. While the pattern does repeat and appears written by different hands, it is written in that fashion for good reason... to forge a message that repeats in sequence when the weather is right, magic is strong, and the right are conditions.
In a precise time, for instance a light evening shower in the month of Brigga or high noon in the middle of the dry season, the runes will light with a message from a diety which is always revealed by whoever received the Call and reports to the proper sect.
While no one knows just be looking what the message is that appears on the rock, many have taken to noting what they see from their perspective in order to translate it using what knowledge they know of runes in sequence and what they could mean.
Understanding the Writings
As the runes are a repeating pattern and are written to be understood both if read in sequence or seen from a certain side where all the runes are visible in the right sequence, the language that was once known by all in a time where everyone worked together is now one that is still being learned and strung together even after the numerous centuries that have passed.
While a few sequences are known and repetitive, not all of the meanings derived from the sequence are understood similarly to how a word can be the same yet have different meanings from one place to the next. As scholars of the spire's city work towards unlocking the secrets of understanding, others work on interpreting and distributing the prophecies that are known as well working on deciphering those for which a call was not given.
