Episode 52: The Wayfinders

General Summary

Only a couple of hours from Prin, the group decided to head back to finish some personal tasks and seek out some information from Captain Blackraven not only about the city but of where they were possibly headed. However, as they sought him out in the city center, the group found themselves surrounded by knights only to be given a hero's welcome and be the center of proclaimed gratitude. As a name for them as a party was being sought, Vasya spoke up with the name "Wayfinders".
With the attention of the guards lifted from them, the group decided to seek out the Fox and perhaps find something that could lead to him in the Black Market. While Valentine was able to navigate his way there, the group was only able to find a trapped room and eventually discover a box with a fox trinket on top. Believing that the self-centered vigilante had left this as a calling card after Reylan had Sent him a message, they open the box only to trigger a trap.
As it turns out, a disembodied voice comes from the box and gives the group a riddle.

It was only after Vasya inadvertently asked for a clue that one was given, enabling Reylan to solve the riddle and opening the next door to another room.
Taking the choice of brute strength, both Reylan and Gideon instead focus on breaking the door with Gideon able to fracture the wood and leave a whole that could possibly lead to their escape the way they came. As Vasya attempted to unlock the door, the group was met with a familiar voice and the party eventually found the door opened by none other than The Fox-- who waxed poetic about showing up at the right place and time to assist them as they had found themselves in trouble.
As the vigilante continued to the next room, apparently taking up the riddler's challenge, he inadvertently locked the group in the same room, but this time separated himself from the party. With Reylan and Vasya pressing their ears to the door, they were able to discern the riddle though were not able to solve the riddle in time before they heard a body hit the ground.
However, it didn't take long before another set of voices echoed expressing surprise that they finally caught the Fox himself. As the others protested from the other side, garnering the attention of the villain on the other door, they heard him command his men to dispatch "the Fox's friends". As the grunts attempted to carry out orders, the party cut and burned their way through them, though Vasya, Nyx, and Reylan showed restraint with non-lethal blows.
As many were able to rush into a warehouse like room where the Fox was seen dangling over a vat of acid, it seemed like Gideon was able to keep the rope up while Nyx dove up to tackle the Fox to safety mid-flight. Meanwhile, an invisible Terra had followed the so-proclaimed "Smartster" and had almost managed to keep him there before the mage cast an illusion tricking the beast.
As the Fox recovered, he revealed to the party that he had helped bust Prin's Black Market and that they were standing on what was left of it, an empty warehouse with remnants of crates and boxes. He answered whatever questions the party had for him with Reylan touching on a nerve.

"I don't really work with anyone."

"Was that because you were betrayed?"

Without issue, however, the Fox agreed to remain on the lookout for runes similar to the ones on the map that the party had used to determine the last points of the rune before taking off and disappearing into the city able to send a message that the guards were already on their way and that they should take off themselves.
As the Wayfinders argued about the philosophy of a soul and of life with Valentine, as he wished to dispatch the surviving clones seeing them as an abomination, they all made their way to the city's markets to shop around for supplies that they figured they would need for the journey ahead as it was another eight days of travel to the next port city.

Trivia

⦿ This would be the first retro-played session, a mini that took approximately three hours to include some of the smaller activities that the party wanted to follow up with after the siege of Prin.

⦿ The party name "The Wayfinders" was concepted by Jollibri (Vasya).

Extra RP

The evening dinner with Marcus was left up to extra-RP interaction as well as other downtime activities for an additional day in Prin.

⦿ He would have talked about history of the city some. How it was built to withstand the attack from mages and armies. The Rasa they fought didn't even make it halfway up the walls.
⦿ His sister, Mara, is taking holy orders of some kind. He is not sure to which diety.
⦿ Lady Barrow is still riding out to reclaim lost lands-- Barrowrest and other raided towns to the west.
⦿ The Queen has opened the city walls to all those in need.

⦿ He is aware of the compass warning sign, however, with the sinking of the city alongside the siege of the inner shores, they had no time to monitor any other warning signs. They were able to spare forces to the walls as the attack on the shore seemed to be managed.

Activities in Prin

⦿ Sarku was able to shop around the marketplace for supplies needed with help from Tetran and Gideon.

⦿ Reylan shopped around the city, even visiting the Temple of Valyrhn once more for information as well as guidance for Chase who she brought with him.
