Spellmonger
To the people of the Hamlet of Green Lake, I find it outrageous that you would have a celebration for so called heros, and not include myself in it. For years I have served this village, finding lost herds. Placing protective charms from goblins and beasts. When you lose your flocks after the adventures come and fight on your farm. They aren't the ones to come help you find them! When that adventuring group come in to town and let out an eldrich water elemental from the fountian, who is the one that helped build it back! ME, but you throw them a feast and a heros day! Hell without the help of myself and other mages and witches in the area these so called "Heros" would be lost bumbling threw the woods without our guidence! -Letter from Tresin the Mage of Green LakeSpellmongers and Hedge Witches play an important part in the world. Not the grand wizards and arcane casters that live in major cities. Spellmongers are purveyors of magical trinkets and spells to townsfolk and people in the country. From charms to keep pests away out of grain stores, to help with broken teeth, placing alarm and tracking charms on herd of livestock or to mark them in case of theft. Spell mongers often don't get the credit they deserve for helping the all too important day-to-day life in the rural areas of the world where magic can be misunderstood or out of reach for most. Traveling from town to town, they spread the word of events or strange misgivings or warnings to those not versed in the arcane and help deal with it by placing wards or dispelling malenveont effects before they grow. Much like a farmer will tend to a field and stop the weeds from growing to large, the spellmonger and hedgewitch keep an area under control before magics become wild and uncontrolled.
