The sky churned and shook like a tyrant, as if the giants themselves were raging and MeyGana was barely holding the reigns of their anger. The swirls of DraKaise that must have torn through the lands that night...
The Lightning tore free from the sky like a lash and ripped through our ship. "All hands to Shore", First from the captain as a strong vibrant cry that then cut through the rest of the night. As each sailor called out their agreement I felt a panic unlike anything I've ever felt before. We were abandoning the safety of the ship for a corkscrew.
And we did, we found where the escape corkscrews were docked and lashed ourselves in even as the ship began it's slow plummet from the sky. They fell away from the ship and spun at a dizzying rate, only controlled by a single sailor atop it that directed it's fancy falling through the storm. But we survived, and I suppose that's all that matters.— An excerpt from "Airships, A collection of memoirs on the topic of the rise of Airships."
The CorkScrew is a stupendous machine that makes only the slightest use of "LTA Cells", reserving them only for stability nearer the top of the ship. While the other types of
Airships often have a wide variability in design, the CorkScrew has a specific design. A single seat atop 4 spinning LTA Cells with 4 lashed harnesses holding members to the base of the machine, beneath the pilot.
The CorkScrew is found on every ship larger than a
BlackStaff - BS11, and as such, is known by every sailor of the sky. And, as such, It's seen as a horrifying necessity to most. Those who have experienced a descent on one of the machines describe it as worse than crash-landing. However, a small group of people have latched onto this machine as a hallmark of adrenaline production and thrill-seeking.
I love the layered look, the more detailed drawing both over and as the background. Very professional looking. Brilliant!
