The Phoenix Core

The Phoenix Core is the professional group of Airship Captains that control the airways. They provide jobs and connections for Airship pilots and captains. While most cities have large ports, the Southern Floodlands act as the largest market for these captains to traverse.
While The Longshore Guild maintains the repair of Airships; the Phoenix Core maintains the training of Artificers on the upgrade and addition to airships. These services along with direct freight contracts to their members make membership in the organization a necessity for any would-be Airship captains. These Contracts are separated by title, with various lounges spread across ports in most cities. Some smaller cities keep these lounges connected.

Advancement

An Airship Captain with a ship and a penchant for picking up and delivering freight. The Phoenix Core allows entry for those pilots that have proven their lack of Piratic tendencies. These Smolders are allowed entry to the base captain lounges and are given passes to accept basic contracts.
A Smolder that has completed 10 Basic Contracts has proven their basic capabilities and earned the right to become a Phoenix. Phoenixes are given reign to enter into dual contracts, private contracts and Phoenix Core Convoys. These captains are allowed to accept basic contracts or to assist with advanced contracts. Smolders are also given access to discounted ship repairs and upgrades.
A Phoenix that has completed 100 Basic Contracts has the right to apply to become a Firelight. If they are in good standing with the Phoenix Core then they are allowed to Lead Convoys and accept Advanced Contracts. Phoenixes are also given access to higher quality ship rebuilding and custom upgrades.
A Firelight that has completed 100 Advanced Contracts and 200 total contracts have the right to apply to become a Flame Elemental. These Captains can form convoys and may accept Expert Contracts. Firelights are also given access to cheaper ship purchases, and the best quality custom upgrades.

Phoenix Upgrades

Airships like the BS21 are highly customizable with numerous possible additions. The Artificers and work crews of the Longshore guild are willing to upgrade various parts of the ship; Engines, Weapons, Storage.
Engines Engine Upgrades are the costliest of upgrades. These require large portions of the ship to be removed and replaced with new engine pieces to be installed. In addition, these usually come with large internal renovations as the outside of the ship is changed to fit the new engine style.
Weapons Weapon Upgrades are the necessary evils of the trade; Cannons, Ballistics or magical turrets come with different benefits and drawbacks, but those with them can strike dragons from the sky. These upgrades are separated into Various tiers starting with Ballistics available to Smolders.
Storage Storage upgrades are the most important upgrades for a freight ship. Expanded storage bays and dimensional manifolds allow more storage space. These often require large sections of freight ship to be fixed and modified to accomodate the new storage spaces. These are also separated into various tiers starting with Expanded Cargo Bays available to Phoenixes.
