Bison Camps

Introduction

The Air Nomads' primary method of long distance travel is by flying sky bison. These life-long companions work diligently to ensure the save travels of their Nomad friends. But of course when flying long distances, the bison need rest stops in between. To make this a bit easier on their furry friends, the Air Nomads erected four distinct locations around the world where bison and riders could rest.

Nomad's Haven

Nomad's Haven is the halfway point between the Southern and Western Air Temples. It can be found just northwest of Crescent Island in the Fire Nation. The small, grass-covered island has hay for bison the bison to fuel up, along with four tents that Nomads can stay in. Nun Emi built a small pet shack as well to house her dogs, which visitors love to play with and feed on their way through. There are two wells on the island for vanity, along with a pond with lots of lily pads.

Camp Iraluq

Camp Iraluq is on the southwestern coast of the Northern Water Tribe! It's the rest stop between the Northern and Western Air Temples and provides a quick route to and from Air Temple Island for both. Since the camp is snowy, not many stay for long, but instead take a rest around the campfire before departure to their next location!

Manyue Mountain

Above Full Moon Bay and right next to the Serpent's Pass, Manyue Mountain serves as the rest stop between the Eastern and Northern Air Temples. Though it isn't as decorated as the rest of the camps, it's just as beautiful. The surrounding trees have stunning purple leaves, and various kinds of flowers grow in the area. It's neighbor to a large mountaintop lake that leads into a snakelike stream down the side of the mountain. Many come to this area to get a unique view of the sunrise in the east.

Sharktooth Island

This camp can be found on the coast just west of Jet's Forest, and south of Air Temple Island. Sharktooth Island is essentially the main hub of all the bison camps due to the fact that it's almost the direct center point of all of the five temples. From Sharktooth, one can travel to ATI, Nomad's Haven, Manyue Mountain, and Kinoko Island. Sharktooth itself has a large stone statue of a woman in the middle surrounded by a small ring of water, similar to the statues that can be found at the Western Air Temple. The island is covered in greenery and trees, with elegant lanterns hanging from the branches to light up the area.
