Tsubaki Daeyang
Former Fire Lord
Life
Tsubaki Daeyang was born and raised in the Fire Nation to a middle class family of farmers, Haruto and Mari Hato. Before she was born, Tsubaki's mother, Mari, was a traveling plant researcher who met Tsubaki's father, Haruto. on one of her travels and instantly connected with their love for plants. They quickly got married and had their only child, Tsubaki. Settling on a small property mainly of farmland, her parents worked hard to use this as a way to help provide food for the nearby village and make that their main source of income.
Growing up was hard due to the immense amount of farming she was doing after her classes. Since she was the only child, Tsubaki wanted to make sure she was doing her part in making sure the family is in good hands by using all her free time harvesting and packaging crops to be ready for the markets. Her family was well known and had a good reputation for all they provided to the nearby villages, however it still didn’t help the fact that she had trouble making friends. As useful as being a farmer is, the thought of being a farmer wasn’t looked upon greatly by the other students, and often made fun of her for it. Her bending wasn’t the best either which made her a target for school bullies and without a proper fire bending teacher put her in a deeper hole.
It wasn’t until she turned 18 did she finally have the courage to move out of her parents home and venture off in search of becoming a plant researcher like her mother or even better become a science teacher at a Fire Nation school. She started off her journey by helping to build small farms to villages who needed help starting. After traveling for about a month she became known to the area as farmer Tsubaki, and was soon requested by townspeople to help them improve their farms and offer tips. However, no matter what tasks she was put to, she never requested or accepted any pay, for she merely loved to just help people in any way she could. But her next mission was to find a proper fire bending teacher, to truly encompass her bending gift.
The search for a teacher wasn’t the greatest. Anyone who showed potential in her point of view didn’t see any hope in her in return. She tried practicing on her own but what’s good in practicing without someone to help guide you and tell you how you’re doing? This caused her to go back to what she loved doing most, farming. Tsubaki decided it was time to try and branch out of the Fire Nation in search of new ways she can help improve her nation's food system.
Her first stop was Huu Holo in the Foggy Swamp, having heard their environment was like no other, she had to check it out and see what their farms look like. Upon arriving at the Foggy Swamp, Tsubaki was so nervous to interact with the swamp people due to her social anxiety, but after a very long and comforting conversation with one of the citizens, she was offered a formal tour of what the swamp had to offer to help her. Once they were at the farms, Tsubaki was blown away on the way and layout of it. When she asked who took care of the farms, she was introduced to a guy named Giotok. Giotok told Tsubaki about the different methods he uses and different crops he grows in the swamps farm and ended up spending the day together. Later on that night when Tsubaki was planning saying her goodbyes to the swamp citizens, Giotok approached Tsubaki and told her how much he loved her company and can’t picture another day without her. He decided he was going to join her side through her journey. So they set off that night to their next destination.
One night while passing through the Southern Water Tribe, Giotok proposed to Tsubaki! So excited about the new engagement, they agreed to travel back to Tsubaki's home nation to hold a ceremony in the capitol Caldera, and their last name, Daeyang (water in Korean). The two would invite all their friends and family from both nations.
The two had settled on Nokoribi island with their now twin kids Tophiana and Koanak. Tophiana who surprisingly came to be an earth bender, gaining this trait for Giotok’s ancestry, and little rowdy Koanak who was also a water bender after his father. Although the twins can be very passionate about using their bending, and even sometimes causing trouble, the love the family had could never go away.
New projects arose for Tsubaki as well, after making a name for herself as a successful farmer, she was appointed to building and caring for the multiple farm towers now standing in New Kasen as well as run the New Kasen food bank who she helps those who are on food stamps. Giotok also took up a job with the Water Tribe military, earning himself the title as Marine Giotok. For now things seemed to be going well for the Daeyangs, besides the occasional sibling rivalry and Tophiana accidently collapsing the roof to their house. They were happy and always working hard to help their nations, and Tsubaki looked forward to continuing to travel to all the nations to continue her initial journey.
Tsubaki, now older, starting to feel like she hasn’t achieved as much as she had hoped to, to travel and be recognized for her outstanding work she does within the Fire Nation. Yes she’s gotten married and had kids within the time of her leaving home, but she always felt like she was missing something. To her neighbors and townsmen, she was just Farmer Tsubaki Daeyang and nothing more. Her husband on the other hand was part of the Foggy Swamp Tribe council, ambassador and even still a farmer at times when he’s needed. Tophiana and Koanak were always helping her out and around but they still had their respected times of school and improving their bending from masters, and Koanak even getting interested in foreign relations, hoping that one day he can become an ambassador. So for the time being she continued to work on building new farm structures and helping out as an item collector here and there. With all of the business in the ther members going on, she decided it was time to resume her mission of becoming a top skilled worker and farmer in her nation and continuing to visit the many nations and farms around in hopes to add enlightenment and help to those around.
But before Tsubaki could venture out again, she was approached by, then Fire Lord Kaneko, about a new promotion system she put in place and was offering Tsubaki the head farmer position! No longer wanting to travel, she stayed in FN to help build up her fellow farmers and become a leader to go to for help and guidance. She enjoyed this new position but it would only have a short reign, while Fire Lord Kaneko was away sick and Regent Fire Lord Eineya was there, the position of Citizen Representative opened up. This position would watch over the entire domestic branch in the FN while also being the voice of the citizens who didn’t go down the path of military, sage or engineers. Being the only candidate who applied, Tsubaki secured the job and the position, her first plan of action was to implement a fair, working system for the domestic branch.
And just like that, Fire Lord Kaneko stepped down from power after being denounced and Regent Fire Lord Eineya stepped up to power, but soon after being sworn into her position, Fire Lord Eineya came to Tsubaki life changing opportunity. Eineya offered to pass down her Fire Lord position to Tsubaki, believing she could successfully run a nation and bring positive changes to the Fire Nation. Tsubaki accepted the position from her successor and became Fire Lord Liv Daeyang, who started off as a small town farmer but had now become the face of the Fire Nation.
