Kilne

Once an old brickmaking village, Kilne has now become a hive of activity with the demands for Menhirwood.

Government

Kilne is located on the eastern coast of Ves Palu and is within the County of Nealen, one of the seven counties on the island. The county council is fair and cooperates well with the neighbouring counties of Tarle, Warlow and Stour.

Industry & Trade

Kilne started as a small brick making village on the east coast of Ves Palu and has two large clay pits that produce a rich, earthy-grey mud for building Rakuwan dwellings; the clay is also processed and fired in huge brick kilns to make Ves Paluvian Greybrick. The majority of other races prefer living in brick houses, and the Greybricks are shipped along the coast to the major ports for further construction work.   Kilne's latest—and most profitable—trade is Menhirwood, harvested from the local monoliths and standing circles that are scattered across the island, this magical stone-like bark has a unique quality that makes it extra stabilised in water. Kilne ships raw Menhirwood but also crafts small fishing vessels out of this material that don't seem to get battered by the waves at all.   There is a large standing circle of fourteen Menhirwood monoliths just north of the village, which historically was used as a place of traditions such as marriage, seasonal festivals and even public trials, but due to the increasing demands from shipbuilders for stabilised sailing vessels, the islanders are chipping away at a great deal more Menhirwood than normal...

Geography

Sitting on the clean beaches of Longbay, you can take in the crisp ocean breeze whilst gazing out at the hulking shapes of Steephom and Flatholm islands. These islands are teeming with wildlife and the cliffs of Steepholm are home to the elusive Ves Paluvian Seashrike.   Due to Kilne's location, most of their international trade is moved north up the coast to the closest major port of Finnmouth, which has excellent connections to The Melopian Empire.
