Anseni Pumpkin Pie
Pumpkin pie is a beloved part of Anseni cuisine, especially in Brightfield, and none can make it better than Nana Liliwen! Every trip to Lilipond Acres simply must end with a trip to her cottage, which you can often smell long before you can see it; you'll always know when it's pumpkin pie day without having to say a word!
While pumpkin pie tends to be a more seasonal dish around the world, the Anseni of Brightfield love it so much that it's become a staple for most dessert-bearing occasions, and has nearly morphed into more of a comfort food than a dessert. A few varieties of the pies exist across Brightfield, some sweeter or more savory than others, the latter of which is often served alongside dinners as a side dish or meal serving all its own.
The farms in Brightfield produce a large quanity of pumpkins year-round to account for the local demand for the purpose of making pies. The pumpkins tend to be more scarce in the off-season, but certain farms with greenhouses at their disposal make an effort to continue producing them so no one has to miss out on their favorite treat during the year. This does mean that pumpkin pie is more accessible in Brightfield in the off-seasons than in most other regions, drawing numerous visitors year-round who come by only to take home a delicious sample.
Pumpkin pie is the most common dish one will see on the table when visiting an Anseni household in Brightfield, though it battles for popularity in other regions in the off season. They simply believe it to be the best and warmest welcome any visitor could hope to receive, and are always ready to make their best pie to present when someone new arrives at their door.
Pumpkin pie was one of my father in law's favorite breakfast foods. Whenever possible, I'd put one in his fridge. Fun take on a tradition!
