I don't get why you put An infront of some names...in the beginning I thought it was a surname convention or something.

"An" is a title used before a name. Like An'ʘakarilku or An'Ash. The title is used to show respect for "an older and wiser person". It's an old left over item of address from the old language of the Dragons, called Draconian. While Dragons used to be the only ones using it, now most inhabitants on The Station do.
The title is nowadays usually used by people for others with "soft and respectful" professions. Like a Police, a Teacher, or a Doctor.
