Medium

A medium is a person able to perceive, communicate, and bridge the gap between the living and the dead. They are charlatans.

This is not an official profession, as the general scientific knowledge of the universe does not support the existence of an afterlife. Or any other supernatural activities other than those of the Deities. However, these instances are not viewed as supernatural activities and would not be of concern for a medium as they usually deal with the afterlife. Some mediums have claimed to be a medium with connections to a god of death. But no such deity exists according to the priests.
A billionaire currently living on The Station has issued a challenge to mediums. Those who can prove their talents during a scientific test will be given 1 million credits. No medium so far has managed to prove their abilities. Not for a lack of trying. A couple mediums have tried and been disproven. Of course, the mediums gave an excuse for why their test wasn’t valid.

History

Some scholars on The Station have looked for the origin of mediums in the books of the The Library. Though, it appears that the old inhabitants never wrote down anything of the origins of the people who thought they could communicate with the dead. They must have existed for a very long time. Though, the mediums seem to have risen and fallen in popularity through the ages.

The mediums

While the general consensus is that these people do not exist, and those who do claim to be a medium are either delusional or a liar, they do exist. They are very rare, and their abilities are usually very weak or dependent on factors that are unideal for using the ability in the first place. Some also have these abilities without being more or less aware of them.
