Refrigeration is a vital technology in ensuring food and people safety. It extends the shelf life of perishable goods and enables universal food distribution as well as AC and other processes.

History

According to books in The Central Library, the Kaose the original creators of The Station, first used ice from their lakes to freeze food over 8000 years ago. They harvested ice during the winter and stored it in special cellars or buildings to keep food cold or frozen. The ice was also used for drinks and ice cream. According to some Dragons who have read the books, there seemed to be a religious and ceremonial feeling to these cellars.   It took until around 4500 years ago for them to invent something called an “ice box”. It was a cabinet that could fit in a kitchen. These boxes were not mechanical. The boxes were lined with Ark metal and insulated with any type of material like cork or straw. An ice block was held in a compartment at the top of the box, and there was a compartment meant for food storage. The ice had to be replaced and the ice box drained regularly.   During the time of the ice box people across the planet of Areu had been experimenting with chemicals to cool objects. Many people managed to create different mechanical ice boxes with these reactions, but few of them were viable. It didn’t take until around 100 years later for an inventor to create a viable electric icebox, later called the refrigerator.

Today

All food refrigerators, other type of refrigerators, AC and other types of temperature control in an apartment can be controlled by the Modi of the owner of the apartment even if they are not home.   These refrigerators in the public areas of The Station can be monitored by the government. They can provide real-time data on temperature, humidity, and energy usage, ensuring optimal performance and food safety. They can also ensure safety in the storage of corpses and other necessary materials. Not to forget the refrigeration of the important data centers of The Station.
