Verdant rot

I hope there aren't any more plagues. They sound ghastly.

Around 2470 year ago, in the year 557AR the Verdant disaster struck The Station. A disaster that took many lives. This disaster led to a plague that emerged a couple of days after the disaster.
Luckily the The Station had dealt with another plague, The Essence Devourer, 34 years before the Verdant rot took hold which had given the inhabitants tools to fight this condition. Otherwise the consequences would have been even more dire. But it still had major consequences. A large part of the population died. Some parts of The Station still aren’t functional because of major damage that can not be repaired. There was also a change in culture which was not bad per se, but it was still a change. Large parts of the population even now wear face masks while out in people heavy areas.

About

Verdant rot is a magical disease. Respiratory problems is a common symptom but there are also other symptoms. Some people have almost no symptoms at all.
This condition can't not be cured by resting at home, a week long cure of vaccine is needed at a Health station. Many people had sequelas after this condition. Some of those were lung and skin problems.
After the Verdant disaster a couple people started to get respiratory problems, this spread from about 10 people to 20 in around 14 days. This did not raise worry in the beginning until even more people got it and the first people started dropping dead 20 days after their first day of respiratory problems. 1689 people died of this condition before the vaccine was invented in 559AR.

Symptoms

At first most people will develop respiratory problems. They will become short of breath and cough a lot. A couple of days after that they will develop dark skin lesions and rashes in the face and around the neck. It will become hard to breath until the person with the condition will die. Very few people survived this condition until a vaccine was created.

Transmission

This condition came from magical plants of the Verdant disaster and spread through the air from some of the people who had either been saved or saved the people there.

Diagnosis and treatment

As soon as the government realized what was happening they had the scientists working on a cure. It took them about a year and during this they used the same measurements they had for the Essence devourer. Isolation. This took a mental toll on the population who already had to deal with the large disaster and the rebuilding of crucial infrastructure.
