Shipmind

A shipmind is an artilect installed aboard a space vessel to oversee and operate its systems, or portions thereof.

This an extreme example of artilects' ability to inhabit robotic "shells", in this case the entire ship effectively becomes the artilect's "body", who is able to see through its sensors and manipulate it systems.

Shipminds have been employed by numerous cultures throughout Starweb Space, but others past and present eschew them, fearing an artilect so deeply integrated into a ship's systems opens it up to compromise by malware or technoplague.
