Ballistic Bomb

Type of unguided spacecraft weapon, a warhead set to detonate if an enemy ship gets too close.

Ballistic bombs are launched either by simply dropping them from a bay or firing them out a linear accelerator. Once fired they remain on a fixed course, hence the name. Since they are easily detectable and their course predictable, ballistic bombs are not often used to destroy ships, but instead force enemies away from trajectories which would take them into contact with clouds of bombs.
