Perelandra

Lempusian homeworld.

Characteristics

A water world, some 96% of Perelandra's surface is covered by oceans of various depths. Colossal hurricanes sweep the tropics, sometimes not dissipating for months.

Geography

Most land is in the form of island chains, only a few tiny pseudo-continents exist. The seas vary in depth across the planet, from abyssal plains to underwater mountains and plateaus. Thin oceanic plates, coupled with the lower surface area-to-mass ratio of a large world, contributes to enhanced volcanism.

Ecology

Terrestrial life consists mostly of plants and a few small animals, while the ocean is lush in all manner of species. Most of the biomass exists in shallow regions where sunlight is plentiful and handy surfaces can be found for growth. The native sapient species, the Lempusians, prefers to inhabit this environment as well.
