Xenotheology
"I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd."The study of alien religious beliefs and trans-species interfaith dialogue.- John 10:16
History
English author and philosopher C.S. Lewis made an early attempt at xenotheology from a Christian (Church of England) perspective, postulating that while Jesus redeemed humans, God could have made different plans for other intelligent species in the universe. Various Christian denominations during this time, including the Catholic Church, declared the hypothetical existence of alien life did not contradict their doctrines and alien converts would be welcomed. After the first instances of human contact with aliens, Pope Francis III called an ecumenical council to resolve several pressing issues related to the Catholic faith and nonhuman intelligence.
