The Abyss
Brief Overview
A realm of eternal darkness where light struggles against the shadow's reach. No normal light exists here, and even magical light is dampened by Absolum's will. All light in this realm is restricted to 1/4th its normal radius, no matter the power of the spell cast. The only exceptions to the above statement are spells that were created by Lumina, the goddess of light.General Overview
Originally, the Abyss was a normal realm with a star and many varieties of flora and fauna, however, after Absolum was banished there his darkness overwhelmed the realm. Everywhere Absolum traveled was inevitably consumed in eternal dark. The god took it upon himself to destroy the star of that realm in order to blanket his world in the darkness he so coveted. Some say that Absolum himself is the Abyss and the realm simply exists inside of him considering the fact that Absolum himself is a massive cloud of darkness, however, many philosophers argue otherwise as it has been told that creatures and plant life can still exist there, they've simply adapted to survive the somber conditions. They believe that if Absolum was indeed the Abyss itself, no creatures would survive there, as Absolum's darkness causes severe madness in all who enter. This includes animals.
What these mortals don't realize is that both theories are correct. All darkness that Absolum leaves behind passively as he walks is in fact a piece of him, however, because darkness exists in the absence of light he continually grows. This allows him to plague the lands around him in a darkness so vile that those who enter lose their minds, and each patch of shadows that remains is a location he is able to teleport to at will as long as it is not crossing planes of existence. This means that not only is Absolum technically the Abyss, but he is also alerted any time foreign beings enter his realm.
So remember, if you stare at the Abyss long enough, it will indeed stare back...
