Grave Wardens
A grim and determined legion of warriors whom has stood as the defenders of the living against the rise of the Lichdoms across eastern Illaria for centuries. The grave wardens serve a singular purpose, to hunt down and destroy anything that has been afflicted with the malison of unlife, no matter the guise it may take. Fervently opposing the practice of necromancy, the grave wardens have come to blows with mages and wizards alike for dabbling these forbidden dark arts.
The Grave Wardens were originally founded in 4896 after the knight Johannes Löwe, whom took up arms in the wake of his families lands in the Kermarch being swallowed up by the ambitions of the Lichdoms in Piastzlava. Taking inspiration from the grim knight himself, the Grave Wardens sought to combat the threat of the undead and the liches that command them, embarking upon a perpetual crusade that will only end when the last abhorrent vestige of unlife is finally driven from these lands. Though the legion is not inherently evil or needlessly violent, over the centuries their presence has become something of an ill omen for any who saw them. Perceiving any presence of undead that could pose a threat, they would go as far as to decimate an entire territory, living and undead alike, to be certain the taint is expunged.
