The Ur'morlagh Badlands
An untamed land of barbarity.
In the wake of the cadence came calamity and chaos, the venerable empire of the Majini, Shaladarr, stretched from the far west and south was where this calamity was felt the most. This once lush and verdant country became sweltering lands and erupted with liquid hot magma, while the rest grew even more rocky and barren as the aurora warped and changed the lands of the Majini. Their once formidable magics and incarnations failed and turned violently against them. The sorceries that once held their great palaces and citadels aloft became undone, crashing down to the world below, shattering one of the greatest empire and centres of sorcery Evalaw has ever seen in mere moments, never to rise again. From its ashes rose savagery and bloodshed.
What remained of these tarnished lands would forever be known as the Ur'morlagh bandlands, a brutal and harsh place, very dry and hot, dusty with sparce vegetation and little shade from the suns and cruel long winter months. Filled with canyons and rocky crags, what few bodies of water run through here dry up during the harsh summers. an uncharted and wild land, inhospitable and barren where food and water are scarce, and competition fierce. The creatures that exist here in these dusty lands are savage and brutal, having adapted to these adverse conditions.
The Ur'morlagh is a cruel and brutal land, possessing a deadly beauty that punishes weakness and shows no forgiveness. Primarily made up of craggy cracked red soil and canyon, sparsely broken up by ravines and great mesas with infrequent scatterings of grasslands that follow the course of the river beds and the great savanna lands to the far south. Throughout Ur'morlagh can be found the scatter ruins of cyclopean masonry belonging to the once proud Majini cities and citadels of old, echoes of a long forgotten past in these lands.
Then there are the blazing peaks to the west, a range of dormant volcanos that once spewed fire and brimstone across Shaladarr, blighting the lands to the north. The peaks have long fallen silent, but at their base, toxic pools of sulphur have formed at their base.
It is in these Badlands that many of the more savage races have carved out an existence, driven east by the surge of humanity during the second age of the world. The largest of these is the Orc. Having been driven west by countless wars and conflicts with the people of the east. Where the scarcity of food and water leads others to scrape a meagre existence in the badlands, the Orcs almost flourishing in this hostile environment.
Many ancestors and descendants of the Majini have endured and survived here, becoming small communities of scattered tribes that have learnt to fend well for themselves over the centuries. A shadow of their former majesty, yet affluent in magic having passed its teaching down from generation, to generation.
