Wynsumheord Shall Stand
Wynsumheord Shall Stand is a verbal agreement instituted by the citizens of Wynsumheord and the four kingdoms from which most of them migrated.
Purpose
The purpose of this agreement was to keep the peace between Wynsumheord and the kingdoms that surround it; Nurvenheath, Eiterland, Syperragg, and Wahstrehite. This arrangement is instated so that the citizens of Wynsumheord can remain free from corrupt oppression in their land, and the kings will find no enemy in them. It isn't exactly an allyship- more of a compromise of coexistence.
Document Structure
Caveats
If any of the kingdoms break this agreement, they are giving Wynsumheord permission to take their kingdom in exchange for it. This was unsettling for the kings. Although they had trained armies and skillful battle tactics, they realized that Wynsumheord was comprised of citizens of each of their empires. There were some soldiers as well. That meant that they were aware of the ins and outs of each king's ways, but the kings themselves didn't trust each other enough to work together, therefore they rather that no one acquires the land if they couldn't have it themselves.
Legal status
This agreement legally binds Nurvenheath, Eiterland, Syperragg, and Wahstrehite from attacking, intimidating, or seizing Wynsumheord by force in order to gain it as their own land.
Historical Details
Background
Long ago, few scattered subjects from each of the four prominent kingdoms (Nurvenheath, Eiterland, Syperragg, and Wahstrehite) began to up and migrate to new territory. Before the rulers were aware, they had already established settlements and villages, naming the entire land Wynsumheord. They declared themselves a land free from corrupt oppression. All four kings were quite angry to find that their population had dwindled (if not but slightly) and they set out to this "Wynsumheord" to collect taxes from the people. Naturally, they refused, no longer considering themselves citizens of their kingdoms. When asked to return, of course, they did not. For the first few years of Wynsumheord's named existence, the kingdoms fought to convince the people to come back, they threatened the people, among trying other tactics to no avail. At last, they decided to go above the people's heads and fight each other for ownership of the entire plot of land which was Wynsumheord. Instead of convincing each of their citizens to come back, they would have a winner-take-all battle. As you can probably guess, the people of Wynsumheord did not agree to be won by a battle of kings. They assembled their own soldiers and said that they would fight the army of the king who won, and if they successfully overtook him, they would then have permission to own his kingdom. This didn't sound very promising to any of the kings, so they decided not to do such a thing. Instead, they settled on leaving Wynsumheord well enough alone. All, that is, except the king of Wahstehite who said nothing. They counted him in agreement, but truthfully, he uttered not the words, therefore, he breaks no promise whenever he attacks.
History
This agreement marked a revolutionary moment- the establishment of a massive land with no king in a world which such is unheard of. Independent, indivisible, and determined.
Public Reaction
The citizens of Wynsumheord rejoiced at this agreement and felt that they could finally truly rest without worry that the kings would attack and seize them.
The kings however weren't as thrilled, but most were content, impressed even. Three of the kings secretly thought that they could find some way to get Wysumheord to agree to be part of their kingdoms, but they would not again try to take it by force.
The Wahstrehite king on the other hand would refuse to such nonsense. He insisted on violently intimidating they people to submit to him.
Legacy
Wynsumheord Shall Stand is the proud motto of its people. It is an inspiring feat in itself for a group of varied people to be able to withstand the endeavors of four mighty kings.
Term
The conditions of this agreement are ongoing. This was verbally sealed until The Day of The Shining Lord, virtually the end of time.
