Forest Creatures
Dryads
Conservation Status:
Dryads are smart, gorgeous creatures who are clever enough to avoid detection by the Fey. The Dryads help the Toadies and Grassils survive, but they refuse to help the Cantarica (the Mother Spider). However, it is law to keep the trees in the Ceprinch Forest, otherwise, the Dryad will die.
Anatomy & Morphology:
Dryads are mortal like figures but have magical glimmers around them. They have stag antlers, which they can change the shape and size of. Their apprentices which they make from the trees they inhabit are made of wood with leaves as wings. Dryads skin is the texture and colour of wood; some reckon that they are made of wood. They have two legs, two arms and one head.
Perception & Sensory / Extrasensory Capabilities:
They are creatures of the forest- they are the forest. They can sense anything wrong by gut instinct alone. They are wise and gorgeous creatures. They have the ability to make flowers grow and trees to prosper. They hear everything from the Toadies, who tell them everything. They cannot see in the dark but their Dryans protect them through their own earth magic.
Genetics and Reproduction:
Dryads reproduce by asking the God, Zala, in the Tree Palace near Zilon. The God creates a new tree in the forest, which is the home of the offspring. The offspring can be close or faraway from the Mother Dryad. Once the offspring reaches a certain age, they can create a Dryan from their tree. The Dryad, however, never grows a child in her womb.
Growth Rate and Stages:
A new Dryad, given by Zala himself, is born within two days of a new tree being placed. They fall from the bark and grow rapidly. She has grown to full-size within a week and live an entire immortal life in the trees. At age ten, they can create their own Dryan. It is only possible to do every millenium.
Ecology and Habitat:
Dryads thrive in oak trees in the Ceprinch Forest. They respect the trees and other animals that live in their trees, however, if any creature tries to harm their trees, the entire species attack the harming species. They love the Spring weather and hate the autumn and winter. It is too cold and the leaves of their trees crumple and crunch.
Biological Stages:
Dryads are affected by the Wind seasons. They hate it being windy because the Toadies hide in their holes. This is because they blow away in the wind. The Dryads are vulnerable during those months and live in fear the Cantarica will stray away from her web. It also slows the message down that a tree is being harmed or a Grassil. Grassils are more likely to be harmed during this season.
Dietary Needs and Habits:
The Dryads eat berries and leaves from the never-ending supply in the forest. Their Dryans usually collect the berries and have their own social life whilst they do so. But, they always report back to their creators.
Biological Traits:
Dryads life expectancy is millennias. As long as their tree isn't cut down, they can live for thousands of years. But, if they don't care for their tree and it dies by their own cause, they go to Zala's Prison. Zala's Prison is their version of Hell. A Dryads average height ranges from 5-8 feet; it depends on their parent tree and age. They have slender builds. The entire species of Dryads are female. There are no males except the God they pray to.
Geographic Distribution:
Dryads are located in the Ceprinch Forest. Every single tree in that Forest is inhabited by a Dryad and is steadily growing until the Fey started cutting down the trees. The Fey have made enemies with the Dryads due to this and have become sceptical towards the Tribes.
Average Intelligence:
They are incredibly wise and intelligent creatures. They communicate telepathically and only speak when talking to Zala, asking for a new tree and dryad. They know everything about the forest. The Dryans feed them information, however, about the Grassils and Cantarica movements. They respect the forest and the forest treats them well.
Average Physique:
Dryads have slender builds with an immortal grace surrounding them. They are beautiful creatures and appear to be perfect women to the eyes of the Fey. But, towards the Dryans, Toadies, Grassils and Cantarica, they have wood textured skin with grass as clothing. It represents their beliefs around the life of trees and nature; they care for it so much that they become nature themselves.
Toadies
Conservation Status:
Toadies coincide with the Dryads. They give gifts and the tribes are thoughtful of their presence; if anyone hurts a Toadie, they will be cursed for life.
Anatomy & Morphology:
Toadies are friendly, little goblins with hats made out of Kiapia leaves. They ride larger toads and hop around quickly. The Toadies have a long hooked nose and round, black, beetle-like eyes. They have thin, knobbly arms and knees. Toadies are also blessed with large, pointed ears which can hear the whispers of the trees.
Grassils
Conservation Status:
Grassils are under protection by the Fey, tribes, Dryads and Toadies. The Cantarica feast on the Grassils. There are major protection enforcements regarding the almost extinct species. They are to be helped at all cost. It is usually done by guiding them away with Tunoca Flowers.
Anatomy & Morphology:
Grassils are wolf-like creatures with four legs. Instead of fur, they have a luscious, green cloak of grass on their back. Their tale flows like water but is still green. It helps their camouflage. However, they have minimal hearing and sense of smell, which makes it difficult to sense danger. This is why they are verging on extinction.
Dryads, Dryans, Toadies and Grassils
"The Dryads make us little gifts and the Toadies deliver them. Grassils are gorgeous wolves with grass instead of fur. But, around the corner, the Spider's Web waits. No one lives after that."
