The Magister's Vault

This ornately carved stone and jade tower was once the residence of Wakanga O'tamu, before he was a merchant prince. It now functions as the center of his trade network. The tower stands four stories high and has arcane glyphs where one would look for windows. Wakanga still keeps a laboratory within the tower, but rarely uses it, preferring to use his personal laboratory in his villa. The first floor of the tower functions as a magic item shop or emporium. It is largely manned by unseen servants and animated quills that continuously scribe spell scrolls.    Most of the menial labor within the tower is taken care of by magically animated servants, but the shop on the first floor has a single proprietor. This shopkeeper is Wakanga's apprentice Huniva, a half-orc with an affinity for the art. She spends most of her day tending to her master's business and selling items to eager adventures. She does not get attached very easily and focuses on her studies.    In edition to the potions and spell scrolls Wakanga regularly sells, the Magister's Vault is home to a few unique items for sale. These items of interest are described here:
  • A scratched and battered steel dwarven shield that is engraved with runes of defense and invulnerability. This shield was recovered from a dwarven ruin beneath the Kobold Mountains. The shield functions as a +1 Shield. The starting asking price is 400 gp.
  • An ancient falchion that is made of a mysterious ore. When unsheathed, the blade emits a cold piercing light, similar to starlight or moonlight. Wakanga suspects the weapon predates human civilization on the continent. This blade functions as a +2 Moon-Touched Greatsword. The starting asking price is 15,000 gp.
  • A spell scroll that contains the spell insect plague. This scroll was purchased from Flaming Fist soldiers who found this and other spell scrolls in the ruins of Mezro. The starting asking price is 6,000 gp.
  • An ashen staff that once belonged to the half-elf enchanter Mesym, one of the few remaining arcanists who studied the Art in Mezro. The staff functions as a Staff of Healing. The starting asking price is 7,000 gp.
  • A weathered and stained bag of holding, recovered from an undead adventurer a few months back. The starting asking price is 300 gp.
