Prince of Demons

The Prince of Demons is a title earned and contested over by the most powerful Demon Lords in the Infinite Layers of the Abyss.
Unlike Asmodeus's title of Lord of Hell, which means he is the ruler of the Nine Hells of Baator and the devils, the title of Prince of Demons does not grant the bearer any control of the Abyss as a whole, or the demon race. It does however confer an enormous amount of power. The chaotic nature of the Abyss does not recognize titles or any claims of nobility and lordship outside whatever peice of territory one can carve for themselves.
The current title holder, Demogorgon, earned the name due to his strength, evil, inventiveness and experimenting, which has unleashed numerous new evils. While the title is contested by Orcus, Prince of the Undead, and Graz'zt, the Dark Prince, no demon has yet to rise and become strong enough to actually unseat Demogorgon.
The first Prince of Demons was Obox-ob, an obyrith of putrescence and filth. He was later slain by the mightiest of the obyriths, the Queen of Chaos, and she gave the title to the primordial-turning-demon lord Miska, the Wolf-Spider, who she wanted as an ally. Miska was later defeated and banished to Pandemonium, at which point Demogorgon made the title his.
