Hugo “Hugh” Morelli

Hugh Morelli was a tough little teenage punk, destined for what would likely be a short and violent career as a minor hood in one of the Chicago gangs, when he was nabbed by a beat cop while breaking into the back window of a store. To Morelli's surprise, the policeman, Seamus Kelly, didn't haul him off to jail. Instead, Kelly took him home and fed him.   From that point on, Kelly served as a surrogate father to Morelli, hounding him about school and keeping him out of trouble. When Kelly retired from the police and became a private detective, he took Morelli on as a junior partner. At first, Morelli was little more than a gofer, but eventually they were full partners. When Kelly decided to hang up his hat for good, Morelli struck out on his own and did reasonably well for himself.   One rainy afternoon, Morelli got a call from Kelly. A potential client had reached out and since Kelly wasn't in the business anymore, he was passing on the job to Morelli. Someone named Morgan Montgomery wanted a little company when he met a potential business partner. It was all on the up and up.

Ricochet Recovery
Yeah, you weren’t the biggest kid on the block, but getting the snot beaten out of you on a regular basis helped to develop the ability to get up, brush yourself off, and keep going. You can recover from a Moderate Health consequence with an day of rest. Serious consequences recover in half the normal time.
Word on the Street
With your connections all over the city, there is almost nothing that you can’t find out about. If you spend a Fate point, you can get the details on virtually anything happening, so long as you know enough to ask the right questions.
Watch Out, He’s Got a Pen!
Not to say that you’re a dirty fighter, but you’ll certainly take advantage of whatever fate throws your way. Fortunately for you, fate seems to approve of your style. Whenever you’re in a fight, you can use an improvised weapon without penalties, as long as you can comfortably and casually lift it. The key here is that the weapon must be improvised — a chair, a priceless urn, a beer bottle – virtually anything can be a lethal weapon in your hands. There’s a catch, though: most improvised weaponry doesn’t survive more than a use or two.

Moreover, you never need to spend a Fate point in order to have an improvised weapon close at hand, unless his surroundings have been deliberately prepared against this (such as a prison cell).
