Father Ronan Carmichael
Ronan Carmichael was born in Cork, Ireland and spent his childhood in one form of trouble or another. His local priest decided that Ronan would end up dead soon enough, if something wasn't done. Fortunately for Ronan, the bishop was able to send him off to a seminary in Rome. Mixed in with seminarians from all over the world, he found an outlet for his anger in the form of boxing. After his ordination, at the suggestion of Cardinal Logue, Archbishop of Armagh, the Vatican decided that it might not be prudent to return Father Carmichael to Ireland. Instead, he was sent to Chicago, in the United States. He did well there, establishing programs for troubled youths and working his way up until he was appointed pastor of Saint Drogo's, a small parish in a working class neighborhood on the South Side. It was there that Father Carmichael's temper flared up again and after the third incident where Ronan beat up an abusive father, the archbishop had no choice but to take away not only Ronan's parish, but also control of his beloved youth programs. Assigned to the archdiocese office as a minister without portfolio, Father Carmichael took care of various minor issues until the night came when he was asked to look in on a troubled member of the flock named Morgan Montgomery whose pastor was tied up with other responsibilities.
