Betrothal of Ejiiri

Life, Relationship change

Princess Ejiiri, daughter of Emperor Otagi Nakomori, was promised to Prince Hodari Mhiina of Miliim in an effort to unite Zukei and Miliim, both of who had already held a tenuous alliance due to their mutual hatred of Fainarr and its constant encroaching upon their territories, particularly with the new principalities of Vaernebo and Rossade to the north of their nations.

Following the Conquering of the North, Fainarr's influence over Elzveir had grown exponentially. The principalities Buern, Rossade, and Vaernebo had been expanding rapidly since the conclusion of that great war. Worse still, few nations in Elzveir were still willing to stand up to Fainarr. Kathaya had been pledged to Fainarr since its establishment after the Feud of the War King, and Copari had cowed behind its mountains since Rossade was established to the east. Only Aerdis, Zukei, and Miliim had protested against Fainarr's encroaching upon the land of Elzveir. Aldurstein as well was staunchly opposed to Fainarr, but it was still led by descendants of the Basaran Royal Family, so distrust of the nation was still significant. Aerdis and Zukei had been allies for centuries, tracing their friendship back before the Reckoning. They'd fought side-by-side in many wars before, and so their alliance was never in question. Miliim, however, had never really shown interest in allying itself with anyone. It was Emperor Otagi who proposed a formal alliance against Fainarr, promising to supply soldiers and mages to the smaller nation of Miliim in exchange. Miliim's king, Murtay Mhiina, agreed to the alliance and proposed that it be solidified through marriage between his son and the emperor's daughter. Hodari Mhiina, Prince of Miliim, was thus betrothed to Ejiiri Nakomori, Princess of Zukei.
