The first battle in Fainarr's war with Buern took place on Halen Ocean between the two nations. Zukei and Aerdis joined alongside Buern, officially declaring that they were joining the war. The battle was a devastating loss for Fainarr, with not a single ship sent north surviving the encounter.

The first battle in Fainarr's war with Buern took place on Halen Ocean, between the two nations. Fainarr made strong advances toward Buern, but was met nearly halfway across the ocean with a fleet comprised not only of Buern's forces, but also the forces of Aerdis and Zukei, the latter of which was renowned for its aquatic warfare. This battle was also an official declaration of war on the part of Zukei and Aerdis against Fainarr, with the nations vowing to maintain and defend their ally Buern. The battle was a devastating loss for Fainarr, with not even a single one of their ships surviving this encounter. Those ships that tried to flee were chased down by the far superior vessels of Zukei and destroyed before they could reach the shores of Aduna in the south.   To add insult to injury, Queen Rebecca was on her royal vessel and participated in the naval assault while King Ridvan had remained in his castle to direct the combat from afar. This led to mockery of the new king both within and without Fainarr, resulting in decreased morale among soldiers of Fainarr right at the beginning of the war. Ridvan swore not to make this mistake again, and assured his people he would be on the front lines again as he had always been before becoming king, against the wishes of his advisors.
