Life, Death
King Li'Behr Basaran is slain by Ambassador Gwayne Selevant and his steeljoint, as confirmed by a necromancer's communication with the king's soul.
During their private meeting, King Li'Behr Basaran was assaulted by not only Gwayne and his steeljoint, but many other assailants who arrived, including one who climbed in through his window. While there are some scholars who believe it may have been multiple assassins from different parties who sought to kill the king on the same evening, Fainarr's official stance is that they were all working together to ensure the success of the assassination. This claim is backed by the fact that while a bottle of poisoned wine was discovered in the king's chambers, the king was actually slain with a blade--specifically beheaded. Strangely enough, Selevant took not only several artifacts from Fainarr's vaults before fleeing but also the head of King Li'Behr. Li'Behr VIII's head was discovered in the home of an unknown peasant in Fainarr's outskirts. It remains unclear why his head was brought to such an obscure, irrelevant place and not simply left behind or destroyed. It was found only a few days later. Among the artifacts taken from the vault were the Third Eye of Zarthilx, Nahaliel's Bow, and the Gauntlets of the Red Dragon.
