The Battle of Boragel was the first battle in the Courting of Ejiiri, which is especially notable because it did not involve either of the originating sides. Instead, this was a battle initiated by Aldurstein against Rossade, taking place in the city of Boragel. The battle lasted three days, ending when the gaian warrior Karatay Gubdarson breached the walls of the city and slaughtered more than fifty soldiers before dying, paving a path for Aldurstein to claim the city from Rossade.

With the intense winter being advantageous to them, the forces of Aldurstein began their assault on Rossade hurriedly. Over the course of several weeks, they moved through the mountains with armies comprised of gaians and half-gaians. Some humans chose to make this journey as well, though they were few in number (and less than fifty survived the journey). On the fourth day of Daith in 199 AR, Aldurstein drew first blood in this international war, though it wasn't against either of the original instigating sides. The Aldurish forces instead descended upon the small, developing mountain town of Boragel.   The battle lasted for three days as the forces of Aldurstein struggled to bring down the hardy Fainarran construction of Boragel. While they were able to take down watchtowers with ease, the walls of the city had been constructed with an attack from the north in mind, expecting that someday Aldurstein would attempt to claim the territory. Despite these preparations, though, the people of Boragel were no match for the invading forces--particularly the bold among them. It was the gaian warrior Karatay Gubdarson. Karatay died during the battle, but not before he had carved a path through more than fifty Fainarran soldiers to make the seizure of Boragel possible for his fellow countrymen.
