There is not a lot of information available on The Comptess.
All that is known is that she has a high-rank within the Empire and unlimited and unsanctioned access to the Emperor, long may he reign. It is believed that she is the Mother of Spies, but in reality, we are not even sure that the person walking around carrying the title is in fact the actual Comptess.

There is but one record of The Comptess posessing special gifts. It mentions that whoever is her or whoever succeeds her carries one of the Gifts of Essence. Given that this record was old and has not been repeated, we deem it to be a comment relevant to that time only.

Nothing is known of The Comptess other than that her successors come from a dynasty that is as powerful as that of the Emperor, long may he reign. There are quite a few candidates to succeed the role, many of whom do not reach the age of maturity. Whether this is due to assassination, competition or just how the court works is unknown.

The Comptess is a clear female title, as is the title Mother of Spies. We have no idea why this is the case but it seems to be a trend within some of the higher ranking officials in the Empire.
