Creation of the gnomes

Founding

Garl Glittergold creates the Gnome race.

In what would be ancient Netheril, there was a kobold nation living in mines under a mountain. They dug deep and started mining gems that contained souls the god Garl Glittergold had created. In anger, the god made the mines collapse on the kobolds and transformed the mountain into a lake, later known as first the Hidden Lake, then as the Shoal of Thirst as it dried out. It has again been filled with water and is now known as the Shadow Sea.   After the destruction of the mountain, Garl carefully took the gems and made them into the first gnomes.
