As time went on, more and more traveling merchants and woodsmen arrived, seeking refuge and opportunity. Eventually, Old Ashton evolved into a more permanent settlement, now serving as a forest encampment for guards and woodsmen in the king’s employ. Despite its rough beginnings, Old Ashton has grown into a tight-knit community, relying on each other for survival in the wilderness.
Nearby Ashton, a small village with merchants catering to soldiers and woodsmen, serves as a minor pilgrimage site and refuge for those seeking a safe place to stay while traveling the forest. The woodsmen and soldiers of Old Ashton are often hired as escorts, providing a valuable service for those in need of safe passage through the dangerous forests surrounding Ashton.
