Truless
The Truless have been around since early history and those that know about them usually associate them with a fanatical militant group that crusades throughout the universe, “cleansing it of evil.” There is more to them than that, but very few people are fully educated on the nuances of this cult. Many people believe that the Truless went extinct eras ago, but sporadic sightings falsify these claims.
Perfect Balance
Throughout the universe, virtually all cultures uphold similar belief and ethic systems that guide their day to day lives. And while it is widely accepted that greater beings created the universe, most people acknowledge their existence but not idolize or worship them as gods and deities. In ancient texts, there is a myth of Creation that describes two entities or forces that came into existence and brought forth the universe, infinitely maintaining perfect balance. The Truless, however, strongly believe in Chaos and Order as physical beings rather than a primordial energy. They devote their lives to perfect balance, often to an extreme. It is believed amongst the Truless that Chaos and Order are the ultimate Creators and that they are the purest beings. They believe that all things created by the Creators are perfect and pure, such as The Maker, because they create for creation’s sake. The people of this cult believe that each generation of creation becomes more and more diluted and impure. Therefore, the Ancients, who were created by The Maker, are despised for their actions and for throwing the universe out of balance with their corrupted creations: sentient life. Truless believe that to achieve balance again, the imperfections must be eradicated and that they alone are only ones who are capable of doing so. They do not feel anger or rage toward the general population and instead focus their efforts against the Ancients themselves. In general, it is believed that the Creators created with intended purpose for all things, but the Ancients stained this by altering and reshaping what existed by the Creators. To know the concept of right or wrong makes one vulnerable to corruption and therefore non-sentient life is held highly for the advantage of being impervious to taint.Culture
This cult is a tight knit community of people thought to be located around the universe who lead regular lives like the rest of the people. Their communities are well tucked away and keep to themselves. An individual’s day to day life is led by maintaining perfect balance. Truless are born into their ideology and it is unheard of for people to convert from or to this cult. But it is unknown whether this actually happens. Each community has its own education system that teaches the history of the universe through their eyes and educates young minds on the nature of Chaos and Order. Truless have their own representation of the symbol of Chaos and Order, which is depicted as a whirlpool. And many will wear it in the form of jewelry or host a larger format such as a tapestry somewhere in their home in addition to the shrines throughout their communities.A rock will never move unless one moves it. — Truless proverbTruless believe that all things have a purpose, but one should not alter its purpose. It would be considered bad to want to do this. Truless follow this teaching throughout their lives, believing that doing so will help prevent additional instability in the world.
Militant Groups
Truless are best known by the general population for their “extremist” militant groups that periodically attack unsuspecting civilizations. There is a strong division between the militant groups and regular people of Truless. The people believe that sentient life, including themselves, must be erased from existence in order to restore balance to the universe. They believe that while killing people is not ideal, it is necessary to fulfill their mission. They also consider themselves to be a necessary evil and that their own deaths will only help reach perfect balance.History
The Truless originated on Ethiea where it is rumored that they attempted to unleash a great swathe of monsters to wipe clean the universe. Ancient Truless ruins may have played a part in the development of The Ethiean War. Historians believe that sometime following the Ancients’ disappearance in the early eras, the Truless migrated to Serpentis. It is unclear where exactly they are located or why they moved, but one theory suggests their agenda may involve the Serpentian demons in some way. There is a spot of knowledge described in ancient writings that the Truless attempted to create a weapon powerful enough to kill an Ancient. There is no evidence to back up this theory, so it is unlikely that they succeeded. Little else is known about the Truless due to their secretive and reclusive ways.
