Fallen Sparrow Hunter's Guild

My 1st Wildlands one-shot is published! Check Out Mystery of Thorngage Manor

The trees are like columns in a cathedral in this old-growth forest. One mature tree can barely be felled without the use of magic, so villages are confined to natural clearings that are slowly widened over years. It takes 7 or 8 days to cross the forest on horseback, on a good road. Well-laid stone and the heavy canopy keep the road in decent condition. This deep forest provides ample opportunity for hunting.

The Hunter's Guild was the first building in the village of Treir. Three guildmasters have been assigned from Etonia during it's lifespan. The current guildmaster is Rennie Martin and is officially the Mayor as well. The building has an office and large great room on the first floor and 7 private rooms on the second floor. The first floor has a nice hearth and large bear rug. Jobs are posted on the wall in the great room. Most jobs come from Etonia but also other forest village Mayors. The guildmaster negotiates the contracts and oversee's their completion.

The guild hall gives hunters a warm place to eat, drink, and rest. They will also rent rooms short term to travelers. Meat from a successful hunt is prepped behind the guild hall and added to a regular caravan that comes from Montsilt on its way to Etonia. A stable and smoke house are available for guildmembers to use. Several local farmers keep their horses at the stable and have rented them out when it is not planting season.

Structure

There is a fee to be a member of the guild. 3-5 successful hunts or a similar number of jobs completed from the postings can usually cover that plus some.

Culture

The hunter's like their solitary job. They are an independent lot. They trust Rennie and he keeps an eye on the contracts from Etonia to make sure they get the best deal they can.
