Kaldur Dynasty Talbot

The Old Huntsman, the Black Hammer

The Talbot dynasty is a close second in important and precedence in Kaldur, in part for their incredible wealth, and because the Talbots, like the Bryants, descend from the Drossell dynasty. Indeed, Talbot I and Bryant I were brothers. Talbot is also different in that he married Emiline Giant-Kin, a human-like woman who had prominent giant blood in her lineage. This has benefitted the Talbots ever since, because they tend to be tall, at least 6’ for men, and perhaps much taller, and are noted for tremendous physical strength. Their mythic ancestor is Stormwalker, Emiline’s giant grandfather. His outsized hammer, too large for a human to wield, has long been incorporated into the Talbot’s throne.   The head of House Talbot is the count of Edby and Rearm, the Arch baron of Ygarl, and the baron of Oglesthorp, Edgeby, and Gill, and he keeps his capital in Ygarl City. His inherited appellation as the head of this house is the Old Huntsman and the Black Hammer. He is also the Imperial Huntsman of Aorlis, and the Grand Treasurer of Kaldur, and he owns a hunting lodge in Eofwin, and townhouses in Gwyfned City, Baelrin, and Kaidlorr City. Talbots are enthusiastic supporters of the University of Ygarl, as well as the knightly orders the Masters in Black and the Sisters of Marina, and several fencing schools. If they choose to use their morganatic or civilian surname, rather than Talbot, they usually go by Ygarl.   Talbots often have red hair, they are quick to laughter, intelligent, and very wealthy. There is a family tradition of wearing black, and their motto is “My cup is justice, my mead is law.” The Talbots’ landed cadet houses are Dassien of Dornan, and Philips of Rumney. Their unlanded cadet houses are Waldeger, Lanselm, Gerhald, and Cadwgan.
