The folk of the North are called Kaltani, Skôts, Gallians, and Angel Saxons, and they inhabit the lands below and just into the Snowzone where the ground ice never melts. They are the steadfast survivors of the men that allied themselves with the Old Gods during the War that shaped the World and have had their grudges against their old enemies, the Midgardmen, who spread throughout the world from the Middle Lands after that war had ended. While rather backwards in most things, they keep up a proud tradition and live stoically in harsh climes, all while still holding the Old Gods that now live far away in high regard.
A short story about the little girl Lyn, who lives with her uncle, an HJT ferry (a magus that protects ships), his apprentice Makani, and the mysterious Lady Wisp in a lighthouse hut on the island of Rastrowel. The first story of the Ferry Tales series.
