hybrid units excel at both melee and ranged combat, allowing greater flexibility than pure infantry or ranged units. This flexibility comes at a cost, as the unit needs to be trained in both melee and ranged weapons, and must be outfitted with both to be effective.
Special Features
Hybrid units act as ranged units until engaged in melee with another unit, then function as infantry until no longer engaged.
Hybrid units have separate melee and ranged attacks. Each load-out must be purchased separately, and weapon tier upgrades cost twice as much, applying to both melee and ranged attacks.
Some ranged attacks have a range increment of 0. A ranged unit must be adjacent to an enemy to use this attack, but does not need to engage in melee to do so.
Hybrid units have a 50% increased upkeep cost in addition to the increased weapon costs of the unit.
