Purple Moorhen

Purple Moorhen by Mochi

Nestling inside gently woven baskets in the canopies of swamp trees, purple moorhens are a shy bird. You'll rarely see them on the ground floor unlike their cousins. Be careful not to get too close to their nests; these birds are very territorial and will crap on you if you stand too close.

Purple moorhens are not great fliers. They prefer to jump from branch to branch, diving into small lakes to nip at the plants growing on the water's edge.
