Early life
Vex was born to a shopkeeper mother and a
Mage father who was a part of
The Hand. Vex enjoyed a happy and warm childhood surrounded a lot of friends. The best of which was his father's demon,
Benthonos, Not everyone approved of this. Demons are not supposed to interact with people, since if they do people might not be able to kill them. Vex learned of this very early and didn't talk about his best friend to his other friends. Keeping secrets from his other friends drew Vex even closer to Ben, who he didn't have to lie to.
As Vex grew older he pondered about the ethics of keeping another sapient creature as a kind of slave. Like his father and the other Warlocks in
The Hand did with the demons. Ben told Vex about the contracts that the warlocks and demons keep. Vex, wanting his friend to be free, wrote a contract with his friend. But a contract is a matter of warlocks, and Vex had no such education.
When Vex was 15 years old his father died in a demon attack while at work. A pure coincidence, I assure you. When Ben returned from the battle, he told Vex a secret that his parents had kept from him. Ben also gave him knowledge that even his parents hadn't known. Vex was not completely human. After this Vex fled his home with Ben and left his mother and her shop by herself.
With their contract Ben was allowed to stay in the physical world even though his warlock master was dead. Together they managed to get by while living on their own. There was a document owned by one of his father's friends that Ben wanted. Vex stole it for Ben. Vex enjoyed the adrenaline rush, it let him feel alive and that was how
Web was born.
