It's within our power to restore life to this area; the Desolation Plains will be desolate no more. — Revitalization Macrobiologist
The organizers of this project have answered the question of "just because you can, should you?" with a resounding
yes. It's their belief that thanks to incredible leaps forward in technology, as well as the introduction of
Catalurgy to the world, that they've now got the tools required to bring diverse flora and fauna back to the lifeless Desolation Plains of central
Kazcallen.
Mission Statement
The Revitalization Group, the ones that are heading this mega-project, believe that it's their sole purpose to restore that which has been lost. They've done small scale versions of it here and there; reintroducing a species that went extinct locally, or by doing what they call "ecosystem balancing" by bringing other types of animals in to a new area to bolster the biodiversity of the environment.
Central Kazcallen used to be the single most biodiverse portion of Cathedris; this can be seen through examining the fossil record of the area, studying
bones, and looking through ancient texts that speak of the land. Thus the Projects grand central goal is to revive this diversity, to as great of an extent as humanly possible. With this, there will be more space for life, and the entire continent will be restored to prior greatness.
Life, thriving everywhere you look. With your own hands, bring biodiversity back to a place utterly devoid of it. — Revitalization Macrobiologist
Yeah, I wouldn't place my trust in the project spending more on ads than on protection from a dead god too... That suggestion of live bait is the cherry on top. But on the plus side, this lets me imagine a Genesis catalurgist joining the project to fufil a life-long dream of being a zookeeper! Talking about that, why would the project use Transmutist rather than Genesis catalurgists to reintroduce wildlife? The Transmutists Journal makes it seem as if a Transmutist can change the state of something (make ink into a pattern of words, or maybe change water to ice) but not create. Can Genesis catalurgists create, say, a wall? I get that Aural catalurgists might specialise in defence from the Warning Aura article, but I doubt it would stop a dead God-Husk. Would magical hazmat suits slow Xiuthan's aura?
The idea is that a Transmutist could take an existing animal, and "modify" it to try and match it to what they think the ancient one would be -- like taking an elephant and trying to "modify" it back into a woolly mammoth, that kind of thing! For Genesis, the more complex the thing is that you're trying to create, the harder it is -- especially if you want to make something permanent. So I think permanent forms of life would be almost entirely impossible for a Genesist to create. They could definitely do walls, but the energy required to make anything big enough to even slow Xiuthan would be pretty intensive. I haven't given much thought to how an Aurist might create a defence against Xiuthan's aura, though -- they could probably do something about it! That's a good question and I should think on it more :O One of these days (or during a SC or WE) I'm planning to sit down and add a bunch more articles underneath Catalurgy to add more depth and detail to it!
Thanks!
