In Norse mythology, the Einherjar are warriors who die in battle and are taken to Valhalla by the Valkyries, Odin's handmaidens. Valhalla is the "Hall of the Slain" in Asgard, the heavenly realm. In Valhalla, the Einherjar eat Sæhrímnir, a beast that is resurrected every night, and drink mead from the goat Heiðrún's udder. They are also healed and ready to fight again the next day, and this pattern continues until Ragnarok, the battle at the end of the world. The Einherjar fight for Odin during Ragnarok.
